Indigenous Tourism Australia Web Portal
Tourism Australia choses Incompass to develop the first Australian Indigenous Tourism Portal
On 1 August 2005, Indigenous Tourism Australia (ITA), as part of Tourism Australia, was established with Aden Ridgeway as the Executive Chairman.
ITA is tasked with consultation of the emerging tourism sector on existing and potential policies and programmes and encourage Indigenous tourism ventures. It has broad responsibilities including: the identification of skills training needs, micro financing of aboriginal tourism businesses and the provision of marketing and policy advice.
The Indigenous Tourism Australia Web Portal has been developed by Incompass for ITA and will act as the central information gateway for the Indigenous Tourism sector. It will provide information targeted at Indigenous tourism ventures and will cover what’s involved in starting & maintaining a profitable business, how to get help, training programs available, and who to contact.
Tourism Australia is Australia's peak body charged with promoting Australia as an international tourism destination. As part of Tourism Australia, Indigenous Tourism Australia is funded by the Australian Government as part of its commitment to grow quality Indigenous niche tourism experiences in Australia.
