Sydney

Considered Australia’s premier city, Sydney is the oldest settlement in Australia. Built on the shores of the beautiful Port Jackson, Sydney’s location is a most spectacular setting for a city, and also offers an enjoyable climate and outdoor lifestyle.

With a population of almost 4 million, and covering almost 1120 square kilometres (700 square miles), Sydney is a remarkably easy city to move around in. An excellent train, bus and ferry service covers all points of the greater metropolitan area.

The harbour is the focal point of the city, and its beaches, coves, bays and waterside parks offer welcome release from the rigours of urban life. Criss-crossed by ferries and carpeted by yachts on weekends, it is both the city playground and a major port.

The string of ocean beaches on the north and south shores offer dramatic cliff scenery, great waves and a close-up of Aussie beach culture at its best. The harbour is Sydney, and on a warm day with a clear blue sky, there is no better place on earth.

Sydney offers everything from Opera House performances to street shows and theatres, making it one of the world’s hot spots for visual and performing arts. Opera, dance, theatre are all catered for. Whether it is cultural diversity or outdoor enjoyment that you are looking for, Sydney is the city that can offer it all.
